Famiglia Stellaccio

Hello , and welcome to my new website. The objective of this site is to research the Ancestry and origin of the Stellaccio families worldwide. It's purpose, to trace the lineages of multiple Stellaccio families and the Stellaccio name to it's very beginning. This site is dedicated to my Great-Great-Grandparents, Pietro and Vittoria (Coralluzzo) Stellaccio, who came to from Montecorvino Rovella (SA) Italy, and settled in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, PA., in the United States of America in 1890.

My Name is John W. Moss III, and I welcome all researchers of the Stellaccio heritage. I have been working on this project for the past 18 years and have collected a vast amount of information linking the families in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Conneticutt and Massachusettes. I have heard from many Stellaccio families in the U.S. and abroad and have been told that we're all related as some degree of cousin.

There are families who trace back to one of Eight lineages in the U.S., The lineages of Pietro, Antonio, Gennaro and Michele, sons of Gennaro and Rosa (Notarfrancesco) Stellaccio, and the lineage of Antonio, son of Pasquale and Maria (Fortunato) Stellaccio. These five lines settled in Philadelphia, Pa. and Williamstown, N.J.. There are many similarities between these two families in Particular. The other three lineages which show some similarities in naming patterns are the lines of Francesco Who settled in Jersey City, N.J., and brothers Gennaro and Battista who settled in Manhattan, N.Y.. My goal is to connect all five lineages and continue back to a beginnig point for this family surname.

The Stellaccio surname Is very uncommon and first appears in Montecorvino Rovella (SA), Italy around 1660 with two brothers, Geatano and Francesco and may be a branch of the Stellacci surname which is just as uncommon. In Italy there are two variations of the spelling, Stellacci and Stellaccio. In the U.S. However, there are several variations of the spelling, Stellacci, Stellaci, Stellaccio, Stellacio, Stellacie and Stelacio. The pronounciation of the name varies as well, from Stel-la-key to Stel-la-key-oh, Stel-lay-see, Stel-lay-see-oh, Stel-la-chee, and it's proper pronounciation, Stel-la-chee-oh.
